I've been watching the liberal left's reactions to Kirk's assassination with a mixture of astonishment and anger. Literally every major (and minor) Democrat who's spoken about the event disclaims any responsibility for their rhetoric having anything to do with the rise of political violence in this country.
Instead, they deflect the blame entirely to Republicans and endlessly lecture them to "lower the temperature". Rather than show Kirk any sympathy at all, they mouth insincere "thoughts and prayers" immediately followed by blame shifting statements about how divisive he was and basically, that he deserved what he got and brought his murder on himself.
Democrats prattle on endlessly about the need to "dialog" while they celebrate the murder of a man who did his level best to engage in it.
I hope Chris is right about there being a Spring to follow this Winter but the way things are going in this country, it feels like this Winter is going to last awhile.
You're absolutely right, and I’ve been watching the same twisted performance. What we’re seeing now is not just hypocrisy. It’s a well-rehearsed ritual. The same people who spent years vilifying Charlie Kirk now act surprised that someone took him out.
They offer their "thoughts and prayers," then in the next breath say he was divisive. That he brought it on himself, that somehow he is to blame for being murdered.
This is how the left operates. They push the limits of rhetoric, stir up hatred, then act like passive observers when the violence comes. And when it does, they turn to Republicans and say, "You need to calm down."
Charlie didn’t preach violence. He preached truth. He didn’t call for destruction. He called for debate. That’s what made him dangerous in their eyes. He was effective. He reached people who they thought they owned.
Now they want to move on. Pretend none of this matters. Pretend their hands are clean.
So yes, it feels like winter. And maybe that season will last longer than we hoped. But spring doesn’t come because tyrants allow it. It comes when people refuse to sit quiet and wait.
Speak anyway. Stand anyway. That’s how spring begins.

Thanks for that. Well put!
