Great one ! As a well educated middle aged white woman I am finding that I have nothing in common with them. A lot of the difference I think is that I haven’t had a comfortable life. I grew up without economic stability. My first career was incredibly hard and I had to work hard to be successful. In the last ten years I’ve hit some difficult times without the benefit of family support. So now I do a job that leaves little time or energy to stupid stuff on the side. Actually living in a poor neighborhood and teaching poor kids is great for shattering illusions. I’ve become conservative over several years but more so all the time.

So well written and analyzed, I had to become a paid subscriber. My goodness, your writing makes me wish I had a one million friend group so I could share it with all of them!

So many great lines in this Chris I can't pick my favorite! "When you have real responsibilities, you learn quickly that not every cause can come first. Children come before abstractions. Your household comes before ideology. Proximity matters more than symbolism." That may be one, but I love so many!
